What do the stars mean?

Each of the stars in our identity refers to something we do. Some are for the types of projects we work on (events, wayfinding, websites, creative). The rest are for all the steps we take to plan and implement a job. Please browse through the list below to find out more.

Planning

Research, analysis, strategy - the plan is always the most important part of the job. Many of our projects start with a brief like this: "We need banners and signs, but we don't know where, what or how many. And we don't have a budget yet." That's the kind of brief we like, because we're experts in taking an idea and giving it shape - establishing priorities, defining objectives, presenting options - and coming up with a deliverable program that can turn an idea into a reality.

Services:
- Strategy development
- Detailed needs analysis
- Assessment of issues and opportunities
- Identification of sponsorship opportunities

Briefing

Briefing is all about the nitty gritty. It's about definition, specification and detail. Being clear about what you're going to do, so that a manager or a Board can understand, and clear about what you want, so you can communicate it to a designer, a supplier or an installer. When it comes to briefing, we know when to talk and when to draw, what to say and what to leave to someone else's imagination. And we like the detail, using simple documents and database tools to make sure requirements are fully and accurately captured.

Services:
- Scope development
- Database capturing of requirements
- Detailed documentation
- Location plans and drawings
- Prioritisation of needs and resources

Coordination

Sponsor contracts, political agendas, government regulations, legal ramifications, design guidelines, past precedents, influential minders, watchful Board members, managers who don't like surprises. So many things to consider, it can make you tired just thinking about it. With any project, there are people who need to be heard, if you're going to get things right. But when it comes to design, everyone has an opinion. Getting the input and buy-in you need, without chasing your tail, isn't often easy. We take a strategic and pro-active approach to coordination, listening and talking to key stakeholders so that they can have meaningful input and feedback, but without risking moving forward.

Services:
- Stakeholder consultation
- Government liaison
- Delivery of sponsor commitments

Scheduling

Scheduling is about looking forward and then working backward - identifying where you need to get to, then figuring out what needs to happen to get there. It sounds easy, but it requires imagination, discipline and flexibility - because there can be many paths to take, and there are always obstacles and surprises. We specialise in full project planning and identifying the critical milestones, key approvals and production dates so that an entire project can be delivered on time.

Services:
- Full timetable planning
- Identification of key decisions
- Critical paths for delivery
- Identification of drop-dead dates

Reporting

Reporting is just good communication. And good communication with management and other stakeholders is critical to making a project run smoothly. Sometimes it can be a casual conversation in the tea room, but mostly reporting needs to be formal. Forecasts have to be made, issues have to be raised, achievements have to be acknowledged. Management needs to know what you're doing, and key milestones need input and formal approval so you can be confident in moving the project forward. We know how important reporting is, which is why we factor it in to every job.

Services:
- Ongoing cost and issue reporting to management
- Stakeholder communication
- Formal approvals
- Integration with existing organisational processes

Production

Somewhere between design and production is where magic happens. Because it's the great execution of a great idea that makes a great program. When design and production work together, you always save money, save time and get a better result. When they don't, you can find yourself designing, re-designing, re-quoting, using the wrong supplier, approving variations or just running out of money and time. We make the link between design and manufacture, so you don't find yourself stuck with a champagne design and a beer budget. And we're happy to deal with the endless flow of paperwork - expressions of interest, tender documents, tender submissions, tender assessments, contracts, purchase orders, delivery dockets, inventory lists, invoices - to make the production process efficient, organised and accurate.

Services:
- Procurement planning
- Specification preparation
- Supplier research
- Manage tender processes
- Product ordering
- Inventory management

Delivery

You can have the most beautiful banners in the world, but if they're not hung straight then what's the point? And it's no good having a great set of wayfinding signs if your installers can't get in to the venue to put them up. Understanding what has to happen and when during the operational phase of a project is the final step in making any program work. What happens after a job is done is important too, and needs to be part of the plan from the beginning.

Services:
- Installation scheduling and supervision
- Event-time response
- Product recycling and disposal
- Legacy reporting
